Khaldoun El Zaim

CEO , Tijan Engineering Group

Being in the design industry for twenty-six years, Dr. Khaldoun El Zaim has perfected his skills in design, project management, execution, and supervision of turnkey projects.  
Being the CEO of Tijan Engineering Group, Dr. El Zaim is proficient in achieving targets and managing large projects technically and contractually. Prioritizing in establishing and maintaining good relations with clients, Dr. El Zaim leads a team of dedicated and passionate designers, inspiring them to transcend the barriers of design and architecture.

Dr. El Zaim has had the pleasure to work with Adidas, Pepsi, Dubai Islamic Bank, and various other companies, developing their brand image and identity.

With more than 350 International architectural & interior publications from the gulf & the Arab world, Dr. El Zaim’s many accomplishments include:

  • Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for 10 years of Distinguished Academic Excellence, 2007
  • Vice President of the Presidential Commission of the World Congress, 2011
  • Induction to the Hall of Fame for Distinguished Accomplishments, 2010

Tijan Engineering Group is responsible for the design implementation of projects in Doha and Saudi Arabia. Including also other countries such as Lebanon, Switzerland, Australia, Latvia, United Kingdom, Los Angeles, New York and much more.

He graduated Bachelor of Architecture in the American University of New York, finished his Master’s degree in Ecole des Arts in Paris, France in 1991 and obtained sucessfully his Doctorate degree in Architecture & Project Management in the University of Birmingham in Birmingham, United Kingdom in 2011.

 

Dr. Ahmed Mokhtar

Professor I Architecture , American University of Sharjah

Dr. Mokhtar has a Master and PhD degrees in Building Engineering from Concordia University, Montreal, Canada. His bachelor degree is in Architecture from Cairo University, Egypt. He also earned an MBA from City University London. Dr. Mokhtar worked as an architect and a design coordinator with large Middle East consultant before starting his academic career as an assistant professor at Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, USA. He later joined the American University of Sharjah (AUS) to teach in the architecture program. Because of his combined background in architecture and building engineering, Dr. Mokhtar is focusing his teaching and research on the design applications of building sciences, environmental control systems in buildings, and computer applications in buildings construction. Dr. Mokhtar is well known for developing design standards for ablution spaces and prayer areas for public buildings and worked as consultants for designing these spaces in some important projects in the UAE.

 

Eng. Ahmed Jawdet

Head of Architectural , Bayaty Architects

Ahmed A. Jawdet joined Al-Bayaty Architects in Baghdad in 1993 and then in 1998 Al-Bayaty Architects in Abu Dhabi, as a senior architect.

He has over 23 years of professional experience in architectural design, working drawing and management. Now he is the head of architectural department at Al-Bayaty Architects.

Ahmed has an excellent intellectual background paired with an amazing resourcefulness, and communicative skills that enables him to participate in the success Al-Bayaty Architects now enjoys. His main field of interest is the theory of architecture.

His architectural explorations, initiated by his interesting study in McGill University of Montreal, helped in shaping the architectural style of Al-Bayaty Architects, leading to winning most of the competitions it entered.

Prof. Ali A. Alraouf

Head of Research and Development. Urban Planning Dept. , Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME Qatar)

Prof. Alraouf is an architect and urban planner interested in research and practice related to architectural, urban, sustainable design and holistic planning. He was a Visiting Scholar at University of California at Berkeley-USA. Alraouf has held permanent and visiting teaching and research positions at regional and international universities. He published more than 90 journal refereed papers, critical reviews, essays, in addition to books and book chapters. Alraouf’s current research interests are: Knowledge-based Urban Development, Post-Carbon Contemporary Gulf Cities, Museums in the Gulf, Urban vitalization of historical districts, Knowledge  and Creative cities. He serves in editorial boards and acts as a reviewer for international journals and conferences. He delivered lectures and presentations in over 25 countries. He is the recipient of number of awards and was selected as member of 2012 Excel campaign at Qatar University. He is currently acts as Head of capacity building, training, research and development unit at Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME). He is also the leader of Green Urbanism and Planning Group at Qatar Green Building Council.
